Xerox Remote Directory Lock Failed

On Xerox devices, where scanning from the Umango embedded application, you may see the error;

Remote directory lock failed.

To resolve this, FTP locking should be disabled. This is performed differently on different devices.

For AltaLink and WorkCenter devices, follow the instructions below:

  1. In a browser, open the URL to the Xerox device management console
  2. Enter the Xerox userid/password to login as an admin
  3. Enter the url http://IPAddress/diagnostics/lockFiles.php
  4. Uncheck the 'Lock Files' enabled button
  5. Press 'Apply' to save the change

For VersaLink devices, follow the instructions below:

  1. In a browser, open the URL to the Xerox device management console
  2. Enter the Xerox userid/password to login as an admin
  3. Browser to System > Security
  4. Within Security area, select the Feature Enablement option
  5. Enter the correct enablement code from the list below and save it
  6. Restart the device

Update! - in some of newer device models you may find the lock files option relocated to:

Properties > Apps > Scan Services > Defaults & Policies > Scanning Lock Files Policy

Uncheck the 'Lock Files' option and press 'Save'

If after making this change you continue to have the lock file error you will need to contact Umango support
