How To Deactivate an ABBYY License

There are occasionally situations where you will need to deactivate an ABBYY license key. This is usually because it is a time based key that has expired. You can usually do this from within the ABBYY license manager. This procedure is as follows:

  1. On the Umango server, open a File Explorer and browse to the folder:
    [Program Files]\Umango\2X\ocr
  2. Within that folder, launch the application "LicenseManager.exe"
  3. Search through the licenses listed to find the license you need to deactivate (eg. a license that has an expired date).
  4. Right click on the license and select "De-activate License".

When deactivating an ABBYY license from within the ABBYY License Manager, there may be times you see the message "Deactivation failed". In these instances, you will need to perform a manual deactivation by following the procedure below:

  1. Stop the "ABBYY SDK Licensing Service" within Windows Services
  2. Ensure the ABBYY License Manager program is closed
  3. Browse to the folder
    C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\SDK\12\Licenses
  4. Delete the file called something like "SWAR1201000XXXXXXXXXXXXX.ABBYY.License"
  5. Restart the ABBYY SDK Licensing Service
  6. Check the license is removed from the ABBYY License Manager
