Unable to retrieve activation key during license activation

When completing the activation of Umango, you may see a warning message appear when trying to save the activation key. This is typically caused by the Umango Windows service logon account not having the necessary privileges. Before proceeding, note the activation key that has been provided during the license registration so that you can try it again later without having to re-register.

To resolve the permission issue, check the logon account using the steps below:

  1. Within Windows, press the start button and type "Services"
  2. Select and start the Services App that will appear
  3. Look down the list of Windows services and find the one called "Umango Service"
  4. Right-click on the service and select "Properties" on the menu
  5. Once the service properties load, select the "Log On" tab
  6. Note the account that is displayed.

Now that you have the username that runs the Umango service, you will need to check the permissions for the user. This user must have read/write permissions to the registry keys in the registry path below:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Umango

Once these permissions have been corrected. Restart the Umango Windows service and start the activation process again. When prompted to activate, select the activate option and enter the activation key.
